Everything you need to know about buying and selling NFA items.
Used NFA items typically sell for 30-50% less than retail. A suppressor that costs $800-1,200 new from a dealer can be found for $400-700 from a private seller. With the tax stamp now $0, there's no hidden cost eating into those savings.
Yes, private party NFA transfers are legal in 42 states. The $200 NFA tax stamp was reduced to $0 as of January 1, 2026. StampSwap is a classified listing platform — we connect buyers and sellers but do not sell, buy, transfer, or take possession of any firearms or NFA items. All transactions occur directly between the parties involved.
For in-state transfers between individuals, no FFL is required. For interstate transfers, the item must be transferred through a licensed FFL/SOT dealer in the buyer's state.
StampSwap does not process, handle, or facilitate any payments between buyers and sellers. Payment is arranged entirely between the two parties. We recommend GunTab for secure escrow protection. Our platform only charges for optional listing upgrades like bumps and featured placement.
As of January 1, 2026, the ATF Form 4 tax stamp for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs is $0 (reduced from $200 via the One Big Beautiful Bill Act). Background checks, fingerprints, and CLEO notification are still required.
ATF eForms approval times have improved dramatically. Individual registrations are currently averaging 10–15 days, while trust/entity registrations average 25–30 days. We'll help you track the process.
